Advanced Placement – The Advanced Placement (AP) Program offers college-level courses and exams that can be taken in high school. There are 38 AP courses in disciplines such as the arts, English, history, social science, math, computer science, the sciences, and world languages and culture. AP is for all students. To be an AP student, it is not necessary to be at the top of the class, but students must be willing to do their best work. College credit or advanced placement can be earned by achieving qualifying scores on AP Exams.
The International Baccalaureate (IB) offers four high-quality, challenging educational programmes to students aged 3 to 19. The IB programmes focus on fostering critical thinking and building problem-solving skills, while encouraging diversity, international mindedness, curiosity, and a healthy appetite for learning and excellence. An IB education provides students with distinct advantages as they enter a world where asking the right questions is as important as discovering answers. There are 21 IB World Schools in Alabama.
