Alabama State Laws 

Alabama does not have a specific law dedicated to homeschooling. However, parents who want to homeschool their children have three legal options available. Each of these options is defined and governed by specific sections of the Code of Alabama, which are detailed alongside their respective methods.

• Attend a church school (Ala. Code 16-28-1; 16-28-7; 16-28-8; 16-28-16)

• Attend a private school (Ala. Code 16-28-1; 16-1-11; 16-28-7; 16-28-8; 16-30-3; 16- 30-4; 16-40-1)

• Instruction by a private tutor (Ala. Code 16-28-5)
